Lydia Ellen Offutt Harshman was born in Minorra, WV on August 3, 1893 to Clement L. Offutt and Barbara Ellen Schartiger. She was a twin to her brother, Arthur, and had several other siblings; Charles (Russell), Rose, Radar, Enos, and a half brother, Dwight. Her mother and a sister (Barbara) died in childbirth in 1908. Her father remarried Zona Arnold who s mother to Dwight.
She married Virgil Buttermore Harshman on December 22, 1914. They moved to Morgantown, WV on a farm they bought that is just off what is now known as lower West Run Road.
They had 5 children together; Ressie, Paul. Charles, Cora, and Mildred.
Lydia sewed many beautiful quilts and clothes, crocheted doilies, towels, napkins, and more. She baked, canned, and farmed. She had a very green thumb.
She died August 18, 1974in Morgantown, WV.
