DOROTHY LEE MORGAN MITCHELL (DOT)

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend left this world April 3, 1995 to join her Mitch, after a hell of a fight with cancer, in spite of the devoted care of an angel named Jenny Grubb Hochhalter and the gals from Hospice.

Born November 13, 1923, in Hazard, Kentucky, to Grant A. Morgan and Mary Jane Jones Morgan. Married William LaMar (Mitch) Mitchell on February 9, 1947, in Ely, Nev.

She will be missed by her sons, Randy (Peg), Bountiful; Rodger (Katie), Salt Lake City; Michael (Susan), Salt Lake City; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother, Carl N. Morgan, Salt Lake City; sister, Jean Thomas, Beavercreek, Oregon; sister, Val Diamond, Summerset, Kentucky; preceded in death by her parents, husband, Mitch, brothers, Paul and Oval, sister, Ruby, daughter, Stephanie.

"Making beautiful people useful, Making useful people beautiful", was not just her motto, it was her life. She began modeling at age 16, and dedicated the next 44 years to the profession. Owned and operated four agencies: Steffan's, Michelle's, Paris-All and Barbizon. Her graduates' accomplishments range from Junior Miss Utah to two Miss America titles.

President of Modeling Assoc. of America for 12 years. Listed in Who's Who of Intellectuals and Who's Who in Modeling. Listed in International Directory of Distinguished Leaders for Outstanding Service to the Modeling Profession by the American Biographical Institute. Her Days of '47 Parade floats won 27 awards, many of them first place. She was the first woman on the President's Board of Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce. Taught at Utah Technical College, U of U, BYU, and Weber State. She was the first in the intermountain region to incorporate live models in television commercials. HERS WAS THE HAND DELICATELY WRAPPED AROUND THE "JERGENS LOTION" BOTTLE. Civic contributions include teaching grooming to inmates at Women's Correction Centers; instructing at Opportunity Center, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Save the Children and the YWCA. SHE WAS NOT ONLY A BUSINESS WOMAN WITH MODELS BUT A MODEL FOR BUSINESS WOMEN.

Friends and associates are invited to share in a celebration of her life at Neil O' Donnell & Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South, April 7, 1995, 1 p.m. All may call one hour prior to service. Burial, Mount Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 So.
