Ronald Charles Brooksbank, M.D., a former resident of Chattanooga, Tennessee, who recently moved to Highlands, North Carolina, died peacefully, surrounded by family at his home in Highlands, on Friday, September 4, 2015.

He was the son of Charles Williams and Mary Eleanor “Neilly” (Anderson) Brooksbank. He was the loving father and father-in-law of Jennifer Brooksbank Ware and Kenneth Ware, Heather Brooksbank, Alison Brooksbank Patterson and Joseph Patterson, Robert Charles Brooksbank and Paula Brooksbank; he was the dear brother and brother-in-law of Shirley Brooksbank Logan-Wickwire and Jim Wickwire, M.D.

Dr. Brooksbank, who practiced medicine for 50 years, was a graduate of Western University Ontario and he practiced medicine in Wallaceburg, Ontario from 1964 until 1978 and in Chattanooga, from 1978 until 2015. He was a member of the Canadian Medical Association, Ontario County Medical Society, American Medical Association, Southern Medical Association, and Hamilton County Medical Society. He served on several committees including Sydenham District Hospital, Wallaceburg Memorial Hospital and East Ridge Hospital and Park Ridge Hospital.

Ron was an active member of Battlefield Parkway Church of the Nazarene in Fort Oglethorpe, and attended First Baptist Church of Highlands.

Ron enjoyed many activities including gardening, traveling and skeet shooting. He showed kindness, compassion and commitment to his patients, peers, family and friends.

Dr. Brooksbank was predeceased by first wife, Kathleen “Joyce” Haslam Brooksbank, in May of 1993.

He was the beloved husband of Karen Elaine (Grimes) Brooksbank. “Papa B” will be missed by his grandchildren, Victoria, Zachary, Katie, Micah, Noah, Jessica, Dakota, Sedona, Lake, Sanoe, Corbin, Preslee, and Franchesca.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Heritage Funeral Home. Interment of Ron’s cremated remains will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
