Morgan Grant, 55, of Willmar died on Friday, August 28, 2015 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. His service will be 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. www.hafh.org
Morgan Grant (55) of Willmar passed away on Friday, August 28, 2015. Morgan was born on November 4, 1959, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of LeRoy and Marian (Brownell) Grant. Morgan grew up in South St. Paul, Hallock, and Minneapolis. Morgan graduated from Worthington Lakeview High School, Class of 1977. Morgan furthered his education at Brown Institute, Augsburg College, North Hennepin Community College and Minneapolis Community College. Morgan pursued his artistic talents, having displayed his artwork at NSP and other outlets. He volunteered with the Disability Rights Alliance, where he was the Program Director. Morgan also served on MNDOT Statewide Transit Plan, RTB/Sr. Kenney ADA Paratransit Eligibility, NSP Consumer Advisory Panel, RTB Transportation Accessibility Advisory and Paratransit Council, MN DHS Home Care and Personal Care Advisory Committee, and many other advocacy groups and organizations. Morgan enjoyed politics and stayed current with political issues.
Cindy and Morgan were united in marriage on September 3, 1994, and later moved to Willmar, Minnesota. Together they continued their mission as disability advocates. Cindy is survived by her son, Troy Sapp (and Joanie) of Tacoma, WA; father, Harold Samuelson of Willmar; brother, Errol (and Cathy) Samuelson of Camp Verde, AZ; niece, Lori (and Chad) Pettis, of Phoenix, AZ; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Cindy was preceded in death by her mother and grandparents. Morgan is survived by his father, LeRoy (and Karen) Grant of Eagan and mother, Marian Schwartz of Spicer. Morgan was preceded in death by his grandparents, and step-father, Ronald Schwartz.
It is only fitting that a joint funeral service be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. The family would like to acknowledge the Honorary Pallbearers Dayna Reyes, Barbara Burgmeier, Donna Arndt, Bardette Brown, Marie Knott and Ruth Diaz for their continued love and care giving for Cindy and Morgan.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in the memory of Cindy Sapp and Morgan Grant to the Muscular Dystrophy Association located at 7401 Metro Blvd #325, Edina, MN 55439.
