SUBLIMITY - Mary was born to Charlie and Bertha Biggs in Bennington, Okla. and grew up in Calif. She passed away at Marion Estates in Sublimity.
She came to Ore. in 1951 with Husband JES WITHERSPOON. They lived in Dayton and worked at Alderman Farms. They moved to West Stayton and later built a house at N. Santiam. Jes preceded her in death in 1967.
Lucille married JOE WOOD in 1971 and moved to Central Ore. Joe and Lucille built their dream home together, a log house in Irrigon. Ore. Later they moved to Turner, Ore. in 1990. Joe preceded her death in 2009.
Lucille loved gardening, crocheting, making quilts and doing word search puzzles.
She accepted Jesus as her Savior and confessed it to friends and her daughter Penny. Lucy worked hard and lived her life to the fullest and did it her way.
She is survived by her children, Penny (George) McKinney of Turner, Ore., Patsy (Carl) Fields of Woodland, Calif., Raymond (Cathy) Crawford of Rio Linda, Calif., and JoAnn (Dale) Sprankle of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; Step-Children, Barbara (Jim) Leash of Prineville, Ore., Wanda (David) Grindstaff of Powell Butte, Ore., Linda (Carl) Chancellor of Madras, Ore., and David (Terry) Wood of Prineville, Ore.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as her special cousin, Ralph Biggs of Okla., who brought her much joy in the last months of her life.
She was preceded in death by her son, Eugene "Spoon" Witherspoon.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Pentecostal Church of God 10153 Mill Creek Road, Aumsville. Potluck to follow. Arrangements by Weddle Funeral Home.
