Ronda Ann Young, age 44, of Tecumseh, OK passed from this life Thursday, September 3, 2015 at home, surrounded by her family.
Ronda was born May 17, 1971, in Seminole, OK to Garnett and Darla (Hackler) Richards.
She attended Pleasant Grove School, where she remained passionate about her Comet Pride after graduation. Ronda served as President on the Alumni, always encouraging other graduates to remain just as passionate.
Ronda graduated from Seminole State College with an Associate’s Degree. She also graduated from Langston University with a Bachelor of Science in Child Development. Ronda worked many years in child care. Later, she encountered her dream job at Shawnee Housing Authority as a Social Worker. Ronda was passionate about helping and serving others.
She married John Richard Young October 8, 1994 at Ideal Street Baptist Church in Seminole, OK. They made their home west of Tecumseh. To this union, two amazing children were born, Matthew Young and Jessica Young, both of Tecumseh. They were her life, keeping her busy attending football games and FFA functions raising prize pigs.
Ronda had a big heart, always willing to help others. She enjoyed scrapbooking, camping with family, and planning fundraisers.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Ronda is survived by her husband, John; son, Matthew Young; daughter, Jessica Young; father-in-law, J.R. and Marcella Young of Cayaga, IN; brother in-law, Jim Young of Georgetown, IL; sister-in-law, Pam (Kenny) Elliott of Bowlegs, OK; Deb Young of McAlester, OK, Cheryl Morgan of Shawnee, OK, Susan (Wes) Womack of Seminole, Ok; many nieces and nephews; and numerous other family and friends.
The family would like to thank Life Spring Hospice for their kindness and support during her final days.
Ronda may not be with us but she fought long and hard with cancer. It may think it won, but she is the one celebrating victory now with the Lord.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Elliott, Jeremiah Davis, Brayden Orso, Ryan Womack, Kenny Elliott and Ronnie Lowry. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wes Womack, Jim Young, Cadynce Morgan and Ricky Morgan.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2015 with the family gathering to meet with friends from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tim Tate, Immanuel Fellowship Church of Seminole officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
