PEORIA - Lloyd J. "Junior" Howard, 85, of Prairie City, formerly of Peoria, passed away at 8:25 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at Prairie City Rehab and Health Care.
He was born May 25, 1930, in New Philadelphia, Ill., a son of Walter L. and Wilma Adeline (Brown) Howard.
Surviving are his children, Brian Howard and Paige Howard, both of Wichita, Kan., and Kelly Wilson of Seattle, Wash.; stepson, Steve; sister, Shirley (Robert) Terrell of Peoria; and the love of his life, Colette Colgan of Washington.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marilyn Frakes.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Junior was a graduate of Manual High School and received his B.S. in business administration from Bradley University. He worked as an inspector for the city of Peoria for 20 years.
Junior loved gardening, travel and elephant memorabilia. He was very social and never knew a stranger.
A graveside service will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association .
A special thanks to Prairie City Rehab and Health Care and Beacon of Hope Hospice for the special care given to Junior.
