JOE KENNETH DAVIDSON

Tupelo - Joe Kenneth Davidson, 75, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born December 25, 1939 to Marion J. and Rosetta Cockrell Davidson. Joe's parents died when he was very young. His older brother Alvie and Alvie's wife Augie raised Joe with their son, Gene. Joe and Gene were very close, like brothers. He graduated from Mantachie High School in 1958. Joe was in the United States Army from 1962 - 1964 and spent 13 months in Korea. On February 2, 1968, Joe married Joan Pritchard. He worked for Pen Tire, the Mississippi Highway Patrol and Lee County Sheriff's Department. He flew the helicopter for the state of Mississippi and the city of Tupelo. Joe also worked as a Fire Marshal for the Department of Insurance. Joe enjoyed hunting, sports and loved spending time with his family and friends. He attended Thomas Street Baptist Church.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Grady Davidson officiating. Burial will be in Palmetto Cemetery.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Joan Pritchard Davidson; one brother, Rev. Grady Davidson; Augie Davidson and Gene Davidson; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both parents; four brothers, Alvie Davidson, Chalmus Davidson, Charles Davidson and Jessie Lee Davidson; two sisters, Viola Gann and Mae Evelyn Cayson.

Pallbearers will be Steve Brooks, Rodney Tedford, Wayne Gann, Tommy Gann, John Metcalfe and Kenneth Davidson.

Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the funeral home.
