Funeral of Hiram F. Jackson, Who Died in Burlington
" Hiram F. Jackson, a lifelong resident of the town, died at the Mary Fletcher hospital March 26 at 6:20 a.m. He had been serving as a juror at county court and although not well, was in his usual health on Wednesday. He was found upon the floor of his room at the hotel on Thursday morning and as he had evidently been unconscious it was thought at first that he had suffered a shock. The physician, however, found no symptoms indicating that such was the case. His condition though critical was not thought to be immediately dangerous. He was taken to the hospital Thursday and passed away Friday morning. He was born on the farm now owned by P.W. Hunter and it was his home till he came to the farm near the Center, where he passed the remainder of his life. He was the oldest son of Daniel L. and Sarah Ballard Jackson, born August 23, 1843. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having been a member of Co. M 1st Vt. Calvary. His first wife, Ellen M. Haselton to whom he was married in 1866, lived 6 years. In 1875 he married Jane A. Kimball, who died 6 years ago. He is survived by a son, Orville H. and a daughter Mary L. both of this place, and one grandson also by two brothers, Preston B. of Los Angeles and J. Henry of Zion City. Funeral services were held Sunday from his late home, conducted by the Rev. W.W. White. "
