Lonny William Burnam, 91, of Salinas, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013. He was born March 5, 1922, in Decauter, TX to Eva and Roy Burnam.

Lonny grow up on farms in White Flat, Brinkman and Reed, Oklahoma. He joined the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He returned to Oklahoma and married Betty (Peggy) Irene West and returned to farming in Reed, OK. After farming during drought years in Oklahoma, Lonny and Peggy moved to Southern California in 1954 where he became a Postal Letter Carrier.
He moved his family to Salinas in 1957. Lonny retired from the US Postal Service.

Lonny was preceded in death by his parents, Eva and Roy Burnam; step-mother, Kate (Stewart) Burnam; his wife, Katherine Nichols Burnam; brothers, Lloyd, Oliver, Edward, Joe, Benny, Robert, Marcus (Foss); and son, Randy Burnam.

He is survived by his sisters, Jean Cumbie, Patti Spoon, Genell Dement; brothers, Dale, Leb, Steve; sons, Clayton (Sharon) Burnam, Jeffery Burnam; daughter, Lonna Brown; grandchildren, Carrie Yee, Brian, Ryan, Kimberly Burnam, Jennifer (Dan) Kaufman; and great-grandchildren, Maggie Yee and William Kaufman.

A special thanks to the staff at Close to Home for their exceptional care of our father. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Struve and Laporte Chapel. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott St., Salinas, CA 93901.
