Sadly Elizabeth died young at @ 26 years old, she was only married @ 1 year. She is buried in Longwood Cemetery next to her parents Eusebius & Sarah (Painter) Barnard.

Married 10/16/1855 Thomas C. Hoopes (1828 Willistown Township-1909) at her family's home in Pocopson Township. Elizabeth's husband Thomas C. Hoopes remarried 1860 or 11/18/1861 to Lydia Emma JOBSON in Pittsburgh, PA and lived in Downingtown, PA.

Elizabeth's father Eusebius Barnard (1802-1865) was recognized 2011 with a PA Historical marker at his Pocopson Farm for his work as an abolitionist (he also founded Longwood Progressive Friends Meeting) and plans @ 2015 are for the farmhouse to house the Kennett Underground Railroad Museum.

Elizabeth and President Abraham Lincoln share the same 3rd Great Grandfather Richard Barnard, a Quaker who arrived @ 1687 in America from Wiltshire England settling in Kennett Square Chester County Area, making them Fourth Cousins.

Elizabeth's mother Sarah (Painter) Barnard, was a daughter of Enos Painter, and her brothers Minshall & Jacob Painter, planted the botanical garden Painters Arboretum at Middletown, near Media, later owned by their sister Anne (Painter) Tyler of Philadelphia. These gardens are now called Tyler Arboretum.
