COLUMBIA - A Mass of Christian burial for Suzanne M. Kelly, 67, will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Final Commendation and Farewell Prayers will be in Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. with visitation following until 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2015, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.


Mrs. Kelly died Tuesday, September 1, 2015. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, and raised in Norman, Okla., she was a daughter of the late Lewis Glenn McElrath and Ohndene Olmstead McElrath. Mrs. Kelly graduated from Norman High School in Oklahoma and Columbia Hospital Nursing Program. She retired as a LPN from the South Carolina Department of Mental Health, Midlands Center. Mrs. Kelly was an avid Gamecock and Sooner fan; she enjoyed reading and loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.


Surviving are her husband, Barney D. Kelly, Jr. of Columbia; son, Michael D. Kelly (Jenny) of Council Bluffs, Iowa; daughter, Victoria L. Kelly of Columbia, Jennifer Kelly Benson (Brian) of West Columbia, Brenda Kelly Page (Tommy) of Hopkins; grandchildren, Hannah, Wes, Harrison, Tori, Noah, Rachel, Nate, Norman; brother, David E. McElrath (Mary Frank) of Frankfort, Ky.; sister-in-law, Mallory McElrath of Owasso, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.


In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, James L. McElrath.


The family wishes to thank Dr. Jack Gottlieb, Dr. Rodney Rhinehart and Dr. Rudolph Wise and his staff at SCOA.
