Minnie (Sayers) Baggott/Houghton was the daughter of Newton and Annie (Allen) Sayers. She was the fourth of nine children. Her siblings were; Mary Hayth, Charlotte Kerlin, Nettie Hedrick, Benjamin, Robert, Blanche Beach, Grace Sayers and Rebecca Herbert.

On October 19, 1899, she married Thomas E. Baggott. They settled in Brentsville and together, they raised six children:

Ms. Elsie May Baggott
Mr. Selwyn A. Baggott
Mrs. Winifred Mary (Baggott) Athey
Mr. Eugene B. Baggott
Mr. Henry Allen Baggott

In 1915, a tragic accident killed Thomas and Minnie was widowed. She was, at the time, housing her widowed father, Newton.

Minnie eventually remarried to Edgar Thomas Houghton, himself a widow. They resided in Front Royal, Warren, Virginia. Edgar died in 1953.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother who passed away at 101 years old.
