During the early 1820 to 1830s, Mary gave her account of what she heard during the Battle of Cowan's Ford where only four soldiers were killed which her brother William and her father and their Gen. William Lee Davidson. It is said that her father and brother were killed by cannon fire. She stated that she could hear the shots and the cannon's going off. It is said that they were killed with in minutes along with their General.
