Boy Lassos Farm Tractor, Killed
Havre--Ten-year-old Elden Wayne Turner was crushed to death Thursday afternoon by a tractor that started up after he lassoed its clutch pedal. The tractor was idling near the ranch home of the victim's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence C. Turner, while the operator was attaching a chain to a post. The tractor was being used to pull posts from the ground at the ranch four miles southeast of Havre.
The boy's lariat engaged a gear that caused the tractor to knock him down, then roll over his chest and abdomen.
In addition to the parents, the boy leaves a younger brother and a younger sister.
