MGYSGT George T. Curtis, U.S.M.C. Retired, 56, a Norwood resident for many years, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, in Wrentham.
He was the husband of Sharon E. (Webber) Curtis.
Born in Natick, the son of Dorothy (Thorne) Curtis of Marlborough and the late Wilbur Norman Curtis.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps until his retirement. A Master Gunnery Sergeant, he was crew chief and flew on medivac helicopter units in Vietnam. Serving in Vietnam from 1967 to 1971. Mr. Curtis served in Grenada and Beirut for a total of 25 years in the Marine Corps.
Mr. Curtis was president of Norwood VFW Board of Directors, a member of Chiefs of Police Association of Massachusetts and vice president of POPASMOKE.
Besides his wife and mother, he leaves a son, George T. Curtis Jr. of Norwood; his brother, William R. Curtis and his wife, Debbie, of Plymouth, and his sister, Kathleen Makris and her husband, Nick, of Marlborough; and many nieces and a nephew.
