Son of Eli and Mary "Polley" (Richardson) Hamblett.

*Charles R. Hamlet was born in Dracut, MA, the second of seven known children of Eli Hamlet and Mary Richardson, and the oldest son. About 1810 the family removed to Brownville, Piscataquis County, Maine, where they were early settlers and where the youngest five children were born.

*About 1830 Charles married Olive Plummer Berry, and they had at least four children: Olive P.B. Hamlet, Charles Francis Hamlet, Elizabeth Nason Hamlet and Mary Richardson Hamlet.

*From Feb. 20 to 25 April, 1839, Charles R. served as a captain in the Maine militia during the defense of the NE frontier (Aroostook War). It is not known why he was back in Dracut at the time of his death, but a probate record in Piscataquis Co. [ME] Courthouse, shows that his widow borrowed money to pay to fetch his wagon home to Brownville. (This is one of the several records that establish the connection between the Eli and Mary Hamlet buried in Brownville, ME and the Eli Hamlet and Mary Richardson married in Dracut MA.) In 1842 Charles's widow Olive, married Norris Reuben Stowell and had four more children. The Stowells moved to Monticello, MN in 1865.
