She was born August 20, 1925 in Cedar Grove, the daughter of the late Peter and Cynthia (Voskuil) Eernisse. She was a 1943 graduate of Cedar Grove High School and received a Bachelor's degree from Marian College in 1974. On June 29, 1951, she married Henry Neerhof in Cedar Grove. Marie taught in various one-room schools for 5 years and at Oostburg Middle School for 21 years, retiring in 1988.
She was a member of First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove. She was active in the Mary Esther Circle; and a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. She taught Sunday school, Bible Class and was a member of the church choir. Marie enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling with her husband, Brewer's baseball, wintering in South Texas and tutoring children in the Rio Grand Valley. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Henry; one son, James (Sandra) Neerhof of Green Bay; two daughters, Ann (Gary) Vos of Pella, Iowa, Mary (Tom) Nebel of Sheboygan Falls; eight grandchildren, Maria, Sarah, David Vos, Mark, Peter, John Nebel, Christina King, Amy Romuald; a great grandson, James King; a sister, Olive (Arthur) Davies of Holland, Mich.; and many cherished nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Janet Schulz and Henrietta Huibregtse; and a brother, Alferd Eernisse.
