Mrs. F. E. Shane for many yers a resident of Villisca and Nodaway died Saturday morning following an extended illness. The body was taken to the Pitman Funeral Home to await the funeral service which was held Monday afternoon at the Methodist Church conducted by Rev. E. M. Buehler.
The singing was by Mrs. Martin Taylor, Mrs Mary Buehler, Cecil Weaver, and H C. Lindell, accompanied by Mrs. J. L. Wheeler and the pall bearers were G. W. Kehr, Don Enarson, C. G. English, Albert F. Davie, Paul Williams, and Harold Veak. Assisting with flowers wereMrs. C. O. English and Mrs. Mabel Brenton and burial was in the Villisca Cemetery.
Allie McFarland Shane, daughter of J. D. C. and Almira McFarland was born in Greenwood, Missouri on December 29, 1979 and was 66 years old at her death. She moved with her parents to Des Moines, Iowa when she was 6 years old, graduated from high school and grew to womanhood there.
She was united in marriage to F. Elmer Shane on June 30, 1898 and to this union four children were born, Geraldine, Durwood, James and Marjorie. The family moved from Des Moines to Nodaway in 1903 where they lived till 1919 when they moved to Villsica. In 1931 they moved to Davenport and in 1942 again returned to Villisca to make their home.Mrs. Shane was an active member of the Methodist Church since her youth. For many years she sang in the choir and served as choir leader in Nodaway for 15 years and also several years in Villisca. As long as her health permitted and that was until recently she was a regular attendant at the services of the church. She was also a member of the P. E. O. Sisterhood, the Royal Neighbors Lodge, and the Pricilla Club.
She leaves her husband, F. E. Shane, four children, Mrs. Ralph Cramer, Urbana, Illinois, Darwood Shane, Des Moines, James Shane, Lincoln, Nebraska, and Mrs. Harold Dodd, Carlyle, Illinois. There are also eight grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Jennie Packler of Miami, Florida.
