Julia peacefully went home on Saturday, August 29, 2015.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Calvin and Veola Sublett, and brothers and sisters: Letha Lampkin, President Warren, Sadie Sublett, Mary Sublett, Vernon Lee Sublett, Donald R. Sublett, Calvin Sublett, Ceasar Hubbard, and James Hubbard.
Julie accepted Christ at an early age at Miles Chapel CME Church in Wynne, Arkansas. She relocated to Kansas City, Kansas and met Dionysus Long. Julie and Don were united in Holy Matrimony on September 26, 1953. She worked for both Mendella’s and Brand and Pruitt Garment Factory in Kansas City, Missouri for over twenty-five years. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and cooking. She was a loving mother that loved her family and friends. We all shall cherish the many fond memories that we shared with her. She was the "cornerstone" of our family and we will miss her.
Julia “Julie” Long leaves behind, her two daughters, Cynthia (Willie) Simon and Patricia (Donald) Henderson; one son, Patrick Long Sr; brothers and sisters: Harry Lee Sublett, Elisha Sublett, Queen Victoria McCoy, Caldonia Edwards, John Dale Sublett, Alberta Wolford, Willie Ann Knox, Susie May Jones, Ronald Reagan Warren, Lee Artis Sublett, Robert L. Sublett, Raymond Hubbard, Lois Turner, and Fred Hubbard;
seven grandchildren: Christopher, Kevin, Quisha (Simon) , Marchereie, Patrick Jr., Courtney (Long), and Kameson Henderson; ten great-grand children; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral Services for Julia “Julie” Long will be Saturday, September 5, 11:00 a.m. at Strangers Rest Baptist Church, 2052 N. 5th St. KCK.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at The Church.
Interment, Chapel Hill Cemetery.
