Clyde, who resided at 2607 Madison Street, Wilmington, Delaware, served as a Sergeant & Gunner on B-24 (#42-110151) 857th Bomber Squadron, 492nd Bomber Group, Eightth Air Force, U.S. Army during World War II.

He enlisted in the Army on January 20, 1943 in Camden, New Jersey. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Machinist and also as Single, without dependents.

Clyde was "Killed In Action" when his B-24 was shot down over Hanover, Germany during the war. He was awarded a Purple Heart.

He was originally interred overseas and was later repatriated here on March 7, 1950.
