Paul David "P.D." McKinney, age 85, of Salisbury, North Carolina passed away Monday, August 31, 2015 at Trinity Elms Assisted Living in Clemmons, N.Carolina.

Born October 29, 1929 in Hyde County, he was the son of the late Xenia Selby McKinney and Junious Thomas McKinney.

He was educated in the Hyde County Schools. P.D. was employed for 25 years at Cannon Mills in Kannapolis and he retired after 25 years at Proctor Chemical/National Starch.

Paul was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. He spent many years at Lake Myers Campground where he was a camper and taking care of his flowers. Later in retirement years, he spent many years fishing at Fort Fisher where he loved to have all his family with him. He loved the outdoors and spent all his spare time on his farm working in his garden and taking care of his farm animals.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Pearl "Faye" (Albright) McKinney on February 11, 2015; brothers, "V.A." Vincent McKinney, "Mac" Hyatt McKinney, "Mac" Noah McKinney, Early McKinney; Sisters, Ruth Mann, Lois Fulp and Emogene Carawan.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, David McKinney (Tammy); Daughters, Linda Miller (Gordon) and Lisa Dixon (David) all of Salisbury, North Carolina; Twin brother P.H. McKinney of Granite Quarry; Sister, Willy Testa of Syracuse, New York, Eunice Dwiggins of Mocksville and Irene Hinson; 9 Grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

The Funeral service will be conducted 4 PM September 3rd, at Salem Lutheran Church with the Rev. Marty Ramey and grandson, Alex Hiatt, officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery with an instrumental by Macy, Carly & Jillian Burleyson, great-grandchildren.
