LeRoy Dean Richards, was born in Boone on April 18, 1930, the son of Raymond and Ida (Eastlund) Richards.

He graduated from Boone High School in 1948.

On March 11, 1950, LeRoy married Shirley Campbell in Ottumwa, Iowa.

In 1949, LeRoy began working for Quinn Wire and Iron Works in Boone, retiring in 1992 as shop foreman.

LeRoy was a member of the Central Christian Church.

He enjoyed watching hockey and Chicago Cubs baseball on television, traveling with his wife, collecting small knick-knack items, and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley, brother, Darrell, brothers-in-law Larry Tripp and Bill Neely, and sister-in-law Kay Richards.

LeRoy is survived by two sons, Denny Richards and wife Martha of Boone and Kevin Richards and wife Pat of Jefferson; two daughters, Cheryl Richards Clark and husband Bob of Boone and Julie Richards of Boone; two brothers Kenny Richards of Azusa, California, and Larry Richards and wife Von of Boone; two sisters Charlene Tripp and Bev Neely, both of Boone; five grandchildren, Tammy Bailey and husband Jason, Jason Richards and wife Becky, Jeremy Richards and wife Amber, Craig Hunter, and Nicole Hunter; and two great grandchildren, Vanessa Givens and Keaton Moore.
