Lois Elisabeth Yates, 93 of Moravia, died Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at the Monroe Care Center in Albia, Iowa.

She was born August 23, 1922 in Flat, Missouri to Elias Abraham O'Dell and Frances Eugenie(Tomlinson)O'Dell. She graduated from Tuscumbia High School in Tuscumbia, Missouri. Lois married LaMoine Omer Yates on May 23, 1942 in Lancaster, Missouri.

Lois was a member of the Zion Community Church of God from the time of its foundation until they moved to Moravia, Iowa in 2003. There she served as the State Secretary for the Iowa Church of God. She was also a Sunday School Teacher, active in the Missionary Society and led many bible studies. When she moved to Moravia she became active in the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene where she attended women's bible studies and prayer meetings.

Lois' greatest passion was her deep love and loyalty to her children and grandchildren. The spiritual legacy she leaves is the greatest of all, her faith.

Survivors include: three daughters: Linda(Mervin)McDanel of Moravia, Gloria Oldham of Albia, Becky Gross(Mike Teofilo)of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, son: John(Lari)Yates of Austin, Texas; daughter-in-law: Marilyn(Walter)Kudhart of Ottumwa; Grandchildren: Gene McDanel, Kim Beals, Jaci Rhoades, Marlene Wilkerson, Steve Yates, Brent Yates, Amy Duke, Sydney Starkey, Bryn Orum, Eric Gross; 21 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LaMoine; her son Roger LaMoine; an infant daughter, Claudia Marlene; grandson John Andrew Oldham; son-in-law, Michael Gross; her parents; two brothers, Morris O'Dell and Paul O'Dell and a sister, Ida Lee Hodge.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Monday, September 7, 2015 at the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene in Moravia, Iowa with Pastors Terry Chapman and Jesse Elkins officiating. A private burial will take place in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Ottumwa, Iowa. A visitation will take place at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia on Sunday, September 6, 2015 from Noon-7 pm, with the family greeting friends from 5-7 pm. Memorials have been established to the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene of Moravia and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
