Carl W. Nies was born September 11, 1926, in Wisconsin. He was the son of Harold John and Laura Nies. He married a woman by the first name of Augusta. They appear together in the U. S. City Directories in 1943, living at 6639 19th Av., Kenosha, Wisconsin. In subsequent directories he was listed as a tool and die maker. Carl died March 21, 2013, in Fennimore, Grant County, Wisconsin.

Fennimore - Carl W. Nies, age 86 passed away on Thursday morning March 21, 2013 at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society in Fennimore. Carl was born on Sept. 11, 1926 in Grant County, WI the son of Harold and Laura (Bowen) Nies.
Following graduation from Lancaster High School, Carl and his fmaily moved to a farm in the Castle Rock area in 1955. Carl farmed with his father until 1973 when he went to work for the Gratz family for 12 years. He was also employed at the Cobb Canning Factory, provided help to other area farmers, and the Grant Co. Social Services as a volunteer driver. Carl enjoyed watching baseball, football and other sports on TV and was an avid fan of the Badgers, Packers, and Brewers. Carl had been residing at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society since 2005 where he enjoyed taking bus rides and attending musical programs with the fellow residence and staff.
Carl is survived by a brother-in-law Ardel Brueske and several nieces, nephews, and friends and was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Elva Brueske.
A visitation will be held from 2-4:00 P.M. on Sunday afternoon March 24, 2013 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore. Burial will follow at a later date in the Union-Nagle Cemetery in Patch Grove Township, Grant Co., WI.
