Newton, Hazel, 100, died Sept. 1. Memorial services 10 a.m. Saturday, Northwest Christian Church (Guardian, Oklahoma City).

After living 100 years as an Oklahoma woman, Hazel Marie Newton died September 1. Hazel first lived in Hydro, married Leon Newton in El Reno, and spent the rest of her life in Oklahoma City. They had one child, Rita Kay Newton. The family attended Northwest Christian Church and served in various leadership roles. Hazel and Leon worked at Liberty National Bank for many years and when Leon was disabled with Multiple sclerosis, they both retired. They shared a happy 43 year marriage until he died in 1978. Hazel was also preceded in death by her sister, father and mother and is survived by her daughter, three grandchildren, Tom, Joe Lindsay and wife Stacy, and Janie Shackelford and husband Scott. These family members and six great grandchildren: Lindsay, Elise, Colin Graham, Miranda and Rudy have brought Hazel great Joy and meaning. The family wants to thank at Care Plus, Brookdale Village and Crossroads Hospice for their thoughtful care of Hazel in her last days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or Alzheimer's Organization. Memorial Services will be held for Hazel at Northwest Christian Church, 30th and May at 10 am on Saturday. Interment at cemetery in Hydro.
