Pall bearers were Clifford Smith, Steve Smith, Stanley Means, Alan Gridley, Eddie Andrews, and Ron Smith. Flower bearers were Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Peston, Mr. and Mrs. Don Ridenour. The music was by Mrs. Willard White, in the selection, "O God, Our Help in Ages Past." Ushers were Lynn Hull and Elmer Lindberg. Concluding service and interment were in the Villisca Cemetery. Sutphen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Ralph Godfrey Gridley, son of Mr. and MRs. Herbert Gridley, was born at Kirkwood, Illinois on April 9, 1884 and passed away at the Clarinda Municipal Hospital, Clarinda, Iowa, on February 14, 1968, at the age of 83 years.
Their early married life was spent farming in Saskatchawan, Canada. In 1919 they returned to the United States and counted farming near Grant, where they remained until moving to Villisca in 1948.
Mr. Gridley was a member of the Villisca Methodist Church and belonged to the Masonic Lodge.
Ralph was preceded in death by two brothers, Rolland and Lawrence. He is survived by his wife, Carrie; one daughter, Mrs. Helen Smith of Jefferson, Iowa; one son Kenneth Gridley of Elliott, Iowa; one brother, Harold Gridley of Aurora, Colorado; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
