DUBLIN - James Lloyd Fritts, 70, will be laid to rest in the Deleon City Cemetery.
James was born in Gorman to Lloyd and Vera Fritts. He was a 1963 graduate of Comanche High School and a graduate of Tarleton State University.
He went on to teach biology at Dublin High School. He joined the Dublin Fire Department in 1967 and became fire chief in the mid-1970s.
He has been the fire marshal for 40 years. He served in various positions in the community with Fritts Electrical Company, opened Dublin Dairy Queen in 1972 and later the Dairy Queens in Hamilton, Comanche, Cisco and Brownwood. He taught at Texas Municipal Fire School at Texas A&M University for 28 years, and was a farmer and rancher.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Lisa and David Fritts of Dublin, sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Barry Authur of Abilene, brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Rebecca Fritts of Lingleville, partner and companion, Laura (Young) Jones of Dublin, extended family, Janna Johnson and family of Hico, Jeff Keese and family of Willow Park, Elizabeth Young of Dublin and many other relatives and friends.
