William C. Rogers "Billy" passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 1st, as a result of complications from a fall. He was born in Brunswick County on Oct 27th 1935 and loved calling the Green Swamp home. Growing up in the depression, he appreciated the value of hard work. He was a member of Town Creek Baptist Church and became a Christian as a young man, was baptized and had a personal relationship with Christ throughout his life. He taught his family to care for others and to love God.

He was born to Reverend Elbert Rogers and Ruby Sullivan Rogers. He is preceded in death by a sister, Vernie Allen. He was married to Nellie Powell Rogers Sistrunk previously and they had two daughters, Lisa Register (Tony) of Wilmington, and Tina Glisson (Bryan) of Shelby. He adored his 5 grandchildren: Drew, Leah and Seth Register and Jonathan (Crystal) and Elizabeth Glisson. He cherished his great grandsons Will, Jackson and Zion Glisson. He enjoyed the last 19 years married to his beloved wife, Margie Mintz Rogers. He was a loving and devoted brother to his four sisters, Lois Gay, Vernie Allen, Betty Martin and Rebecca Clewis. He loved his many nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Bolivia School in 1956, President of the class, and enjoyed hosting their reunions at his home, their most recent a few months ago. He served in the Naval Reserve 8 years.

Known for his great sense of humor and passion for people, he enjoyed hospitality. He cherished his large family and hosted any and every event at his home. He enjoyed fishing and boating on Town Creek, the inland waterway and Lake Waccamaw. Oyster roasts, fish frys and having his friends for daily coffee and fellowship were his favorite pastimes.

He worked at DuPont for many years and upon retiring, reconstructed and ran a Saw Mill at his residence. Never an idle man, he had a fervor for projects and could build anything, including his home.

Service will be held at Andrews Market Street Chapel at 2:00 Sunday, September 6th with Rev. Clayton (Neal) Rivenbark officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 prior to the service and also at the residence Saturday 3-5. Burial will follow at Town Creek Baptist Church with Tony Register and Rev. Bryan Glisson.
