After a long happy and productive life of 92 years Christie Ann Smith Allen departed to happier life on July 18, 2015, where she will once again be with many loved ones.
Christie was born in Irwin, Pennsylvania on January 28, 1923. She accepted the teachings of Jesus when she was 12 years old. She was a registered nurse since 1943. During World War II she served in the Navy Nurse Corps as a Lieutenant J.G.. While in the Navy she met her husband James and they were married on June 19, 1948.
In addition to working as a nurse, she reared her four sons. She acquired much of her natural intelligence, manners, and physical appearance throughout her life.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Dr. James R. Allen Jr.; sons, James R. Allen III, Oliver Eric Allen, and Jonathan Rob Allen; five grandchildren and one great- grandchild.
She will be sorely missed. Our lives will never be the same without her. We are all looking forward to being with her in our future life together.
A graveside service will be conducted for Christie on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 2:30 pm at Gabriel's Creek Baptist Church in Mars Hill, North Carolina. As a token of appreciation for her military service to her country during World War II, the US Navy will participate in the service.
