Beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Robert Dean "Papa" Braman passed way June 9, 1996 in Salt Lake City.

Bob was born April 27, 1927 in Hastings, Nebraska, the son of Francis W. Braman and Yvonne I. Devereaux. He married his sweetheart Colleen Christie Hilton on February 9, 1947.

Together they made their home in Salt Lake City. Bob worked for the Veteran's Hospital, Union Pacific Railroad, Stover Bedding Company, N. O. Nelson Company and then in 1954, he joined the Salt Lake City Police Department. He loved being a police officer and throughout his career he worked in many different areas within the departments including the Patrol Division, Traffic Division, Youth Division, Records Division and the Crime Lab. He retired from service, a 30-year veteran, as a lieutenant on July 15, 1985.

Bob was a devoted member of the F.&A.M. of Utah. He as Past Master, Kaibab Lodge #25; Past Presiding Officer, Midvale York Rite Bodies; KYCH; Past Grand High Priest, Past Most Illustrious Grand Master, Past Grand Commander of the Grand York Rite of Utah; Past President, Anointed High Priests; Past Thrice Illustrious Master, Order of the Silver Trowel; KCCH AASR; Past secretary/recorder, Scottish Rite of Utah; member, Royal Order of Scotland; member, El Kalah Shrine Temple; Past Patron, Mt. Olympus #23, OES; Past Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge, F.&A.M. of Utah; Past Commander, Heroes of '76. He was also past president, Chapter 114, National Sojourners; and president of Antelope Chapter No. 3 of the International Footprinter Association, a fraternal group from business and law enforcement from 1984-85.

Bob also was a Pharmacists Mate 3rd Class with the United States Navy and served honorably from September, 1943 through December, 1945. Bob loved his family, his many friends, and Masonry. He also koved fishing and golfing.

He is survived by his wife, Colleen, two daughters, Christie Lee (Thomas R.) Parker, Westlake Village, California; Yvonne Ione (Roger K.) Kinnersley, Phoenix, Arizona; four grandchildren, Christie D. McNair, Denice C. McNair, Danyll B. McNair, and Daniel Robert McNair, Westlake Village, California; one sister, Darlene (Earl) Bytheway, Salt Lake City, Utah. Preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Phyllis.

Services will be held on Thursday, June 13, 1996 at 1 p.m. at Evans & Early Mortuary, 574 East 1st South, Salt Lake City, Utah. Family and friends may call Wednesday 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at Evans & Early Mortuary. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.
