Virgil Hatfield

Virgil M. Hatfield, 61, of 418 South Union St., died of complecations following an ilness of one year at 5:25 p.m. Thursday at Murphy Medical Center. A native of Kosciusko Co., he was born Dec. 26, 1910 to Burton and Aurel (Secore) Hatfield and was a lifetime resident of this community. In 1938 he was married to Emma Vogt who preceded him in death in 1944. An employee of the South Bend Janitorial Service, Mr. Hatfield was a member of the Eagles Lodge. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Bill E. (Betsy) Curtis, Rt. 2, Claypool, Mrs. Mary Ferguison, Warsaw; three brothers, Jessie, Eugene, and Alvah Hatfield, all of Warsaw; five sisters, Mrs. James (Evelyn) Hyde, Mrs. Donald (Dorothy) Clark, both of Warsaw, Mrs. Delmo (Pearl) Cerlesi, Mishawaka, Mrs. James (Ines) Scott, Warsaw, Mrs. Lillian Witham, Atwood. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the McHatton Funeral Home. The Rev. Kenneth Wagner will officiate and interment will be in the Palestine cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today.
