Mr. Jones was born September 3, 1928, in Louann, Arkansas, a son of the late Jewel and Alabama (Miner) Jones, Sr.
Jewel married Frankie Lander on June 21, 1952, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and celebrated 63 years of marriage. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad as the first African-American locomotive engineer in the Midwest.
He is survived by his loving wife, Frankie L. Jones; three children, Matthew Jones and wife, Juanita, Jewell Diane Johnson and Pamela Jones; four grandchildren, Sean Johnson, Mathias Kelly, Summer Jones and Tiffany Jones; and four great-great grandchildren, Breanna Jones, A'jyla Millen, Kennedy Millen and Mekhi Bovee.
