Regarding the birth place of David S. Griffin:
   “Kansas Grand Army of the Republic Post Reports, 1880-1940,” online database includes a Muster Roll for the quarter ending 30 September 1884, that shows David S. Griffin’s birthplace to have been Lawrence County, Ohio, with no town given.


   An online database titled “Illinois Civil War Detail Report” shows his birthplace to have been Gallipolis, Lawrence County, Ohio.
   The death certificate of David’s son, Arthur Denham Griffin, filed on 09 December 1933, lists David’s birthplace as Gallipolis, Gallia County, Ohio.
   Gallipolis is, indeed in Gallia and not Lawrence County; however, the two counties are adjacent.

"Grandpa Griffin died Sunday morning and was buried Monday at the Mt. Pleasant cemetery."

David S. Griffin and Jane Denham were married on October 5, 1843, in McLean County, Illinois. He was a member of Co. C. 103 Regiment, Illinois Volunteer Infantry, having enlisted on August 6, 1862, and being honorably discharged at Louisville, Kentucky, on June 21, 1865.
