Funeral services for Mrs. Vernon L. Zimmerman of Appleton, WI, were held Monday, April 29, 1988, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Appleton. The Rev. Jane Terry officiated, with entombment in the Singing Tower Mausoleum of Highland Memorial Park cemetery.
The former Ruth W. Beisser was born on July 12, 1904, in Plymouth, WI, the daughter of the late Rev. Frederick W. and Emelia (Heyer) Beisser. She graduated from Plymouth High School.
She was married to Vernon L. Zimmerman on August 8, 1935, and lived in Appleton since 1943.
She was an active member of First Congregational United Church of Christ where she served as director of Christian education for many years. She had also been director of Christian education of the Northeastern Wisconsin Synod of the Evangelical Reformed Church.
Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Lois (Dr. Marshall) Lind of Juneau, AK and Joanne (Dr. Tom) Lake of Springfield, IL; two sons, John (JoAnn) of Appleton and James (Lizbeth) of Paris, France; two sisters, Alma Hirsch of Plymouth and Marian (Dr. Carroll) Rusch of Eau Claire and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
