Aubrey Hamilton Gray, 78, of 2132 Pickett Road and formerly of Open Gate Lane, Afton died Saturday afternoon, July 31, 2004 at Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville. He was born February 15, 1926 in Afton a son of the late L. E. Gray and Virginia F. Gray.

He was a member of Hebron Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for a number of years and was an Army veteran of World War II. In 1991 he retired from Con-Agra; he loved farming and was very mechanically inclined. He was a devoted father and grandfather.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother L. E. Gray, Jr.

He is survived by his wife Mary Carter Gray; his son David Carter Gray and his wife Leslie A. Gray of Mechanicsville; his daughter Sandra Gray Penfield and her husband Fred Penfield of Yorktown; his brother Charlie Gray and his wife Martha Gray of Afton; his sisters Catherine Arnold and Audrey L. Gray both of Afton; his grandchildren, Jonathan Gray, Emily E. Gray, Erin Gray Dozier, Taylor Gray, McKenzie Gray, Brent Penfield and Julie Penfield.

Graveside services will be held at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery, Afton at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2004 with the Rev. Whitney Critzer, the Rev. John Chaffee and the Rev. Jim Hardwick officiating. The family will receive friends at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Funeral Service from 7-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3rd.
