McCONNELL, Ronald Keith (Age 66)
Ron went home to meet the Lord on July 19, 2011, with his wife and daughter by his side.
Ron was born October 7, 1944 in Bremerton, WA, to Delmar and Pansy (O'Rourke) McConnell. As a young boy his family moved to Cheney, WA, where he attended elementary and high school. In high school, he met the love of his life, Nancy Kiger, and they wed in March 1964. They were blessed with two daughters: Shannon Rae McConnell (deceased) and Dawn Renee Fleming.
Ron worked for E.W.U. for 16-1/2 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator/Maintenance Supervisor until his health forced him to retire. He was a fun-loving and kind man who enjoyed his family and friends to life's fullest. The joy of his life was his granddaughter, Serena Kathleen Fleming. Ron loved hunting, fishing, restoring classic cars, camping and vacationing with friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Delmar McConnell; and daughter, Shannon McConnell. He is survived by his wife Nancy McConnell; daughter, Dawn Fleming; granddaughter, Serena Fleming; sisters, Beverly Stinnet, Delores Crall, Patricia Mason and Peggy (Bill) Vargo; a very special former sister-in-law, Inez Malcom and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Ron's life will be held on Friday, July 29, 2 pm at CHENEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1632 W. 1ST ST., CHENEY, WA. A Graveside Service will follow at the Marshal Cemetery.
