Joseph Garrott Dies

Funeral services tor Joseph Jefferson Garrott, veteran postal employee, were conducted this morning at Fuqua Funeral Home.

Mr. Garrott, 59-year-old resident of Central Ave., died of a heart attack at 6 p.m. Saturday at Jennie Stuart Hospital, he had been stricken minutes earlier while working at the Hopkinsville Post Office. Mr. Garrott was taken to the hospital in the fire department emergency ambulance.

A native of near Pembroke, Mr. Garrott had been employed 18 years at the local post office. He was a Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He served in the Navy during World War II.

Mr. Garrott was born April 18, 1898, the son of the late James Jefferson and Loula Thomas Garrott.

Officiating was his pastor, Dr. William Peyton Thurman, of First Baptist Church. Burial was in Rosedale Cemetery, Pembroke.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Robbie Feagan Garrott, five brothers, Ned L. Garrott, Canton Pike; Frank Garrott, West 15th Street; Dr. Will A. Garrott, Cleveland, Tenn., Ashton Garrott. Peoria Ill., and Dr. Lee Garrott, Bowling Green, and two sisters, Mrs. H. F. Yost, Greenville, Tenn., and Mrs. H. J. Howard. Mt. Vernon, Ill.

Pallbearers were John Hanbery, Ike Garrott, Chiff Gary, Joe Gary, Newell Smith, Dennie Garrott, and Edward Garrott,
