She was born March 22, 1924 to Weldon and Maude Tutwiler Linhoss. On August 25, 1945 she was married to Alonzo Douglas and celebrated 55 happy years together before he passed away in 2000. They did everything together and enjoyed spending time with friends and family, traveling and also enjoying local community and church events.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Frances Lucile Argenbright, Helen Argenbright Taylor and Peggy Laws Huffman and two brothers, John Linhoss and Ray Linhoss.
She is survived by a niece and nephews, Linda Lawson, Kenneth Linhoss, Lee Huffman, William Huffman, Mark Linhoss and Johnny Linhoss.
She worked as a supervisor at Metro Pants until it closed, then at various retail clothing stores, Image Boutique, Alfred Ney’s and B. Ney’s. She continued to do clothing alterations for friends and family after retirement. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Pleasant Valley.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2015 at St. James United Methodist Church with a visitation from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at St. Jacob’s-Spaders Lutheran Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 370, Pleasant Valley, Virginia 22848.
