He came home that morning with a bright new uniform and a bright shiny sword, lifted her out of bed, kissed her and hurried away to war, never to return. At the death of her mother she was sent to live with a friend in what is now Franklin Township and in time was married to a young Scotch-Irish immigrant, William Wright.
