Amelia "Millie" Helen (D'Atri) Davis
January 16, 1933 - August 24, 2015

LaVale, MD - Amelia “Millie” Helen (D'Atri) Davis, 82, of LaVale, MD, peacefully passed away on Monday, August 24, 2015, at her home surround by her beloved family which she cherished above all else.
Born January 16, 1933, in Cumberland, MD, Mrs. Davis was the daughter of the late Frank D'Atri and Rita (Brennan) D'Atri.
She was also preceded in death by her in-laws: Elmer and Rachel Davis; two brothers-in-law: Donald Puhalla and Billy Joe Davis: two sisters-in-law: Connie Davis and Barbara DeHaven; and two nephews: Patrick D'Atri and Gregory Kight. Millie was a member of a very large and colorful family. Whether you knew her as Melia, Mom, Gran, Memaw, Aunt Mona, Millie, or Mrs. Davis, you knew she was the epitome of love, generosity, kindness, and compassion. Millie never met a stranger and was always helpful to those in need.
Gran was the glue that held our family together. She was always handy with advice, whether it was what you wanted to hear or not. Millie had her own philosophy on life and her own way of viewing situations, which were usually pretty comical. A special niece actually started a long list of “Aunt Mona Sayings.” First and foremost, Amelia was a wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She held family above all else and always took the best care of us all. There was never a mealtime without a hot, homemade meal on the table; never a holiday without all the decorations, food, and family; and never a pie unbaked, a cake unmade, nor a cookie overlooked. This is probably why her house was the “to go” house for all of her nieces and nephews.
The love, compassion, family values, and life lessons she taught us will carry on far beyond her time through us, her family.
Millie is survived by her loving husband of 64 years: Donald E. Davis; and her daughter: Donna Higson and husband, Rick. She also leaves behind her granddaughter: Lori Davis and fiancé, Billy Gnagey; and her great grandson, who was the absolute light of her life, “The Boy,” Nicholas G. Van Pelt.
Millie is also survived by her brothers: John D'Atri and wife, Billie Jean; Robert D'Atri and Rosemary; and Michael D'Atri and wife, Suzanne; her sisters: Mary Frances Puhalla; Susie Welch and husband, Dick; Rita Nicole “Nicky” Cross and husband, Charles “Butch.” Aunt Mona is also survived by 11 nieces and 8 nephews; as well as many great nieces and nephews, which all had a special place in her heart.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Thursday, August 27, 2015, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, August 28, 2015, at 1:00 P.M. Interment will be in Saint Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brent D'Atri, Frank Puhalla, Steve D'Atri, Sean D'Atri, JR Cross, and Dylan D'Atri.
