Jamie is survived by his daughter Emily, his parents Larry E and Shirley A Altland, his brothers Larry E Altland of Delaware & Dennis W Altland of Dillsburg, Pa, and his loving companion Deb Henry.

Jamie passed away peacefully in his sleep sometime between 6 am and 9 am on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 after returning home from the hospital the previous day. Jamie suffered a sudden heart attack and had stints put in his heart prior to being released from the hospital. He had told us he felt better than he has in 20 years.

Jamie was active in his church, serving as secretary. He was employed by Adams County PENNDOT as an equipment operator. He belonged to AFSCME Local 2136 serving as Secretary for his Local. He was a member of the WIlliams Grove and Latimore Valley Steam Engine Associations. He also participated with the farm tractors at the Dillsburg Farmers Fair.

Jamie was a devoted father and was very fond of daughter. She was the apple of his eye.

"Walk alongside me, daddy,
and hold my little hand.
I have so many things to learn
That I don't yet understand.

Teach me things to keep me safe
From dangers every day.
Show me how to do my best
At home, at school, at play.

Every child needs a gentle hand
To guide them as they grow,
So walk alongside me, daddy~
We have a long way to go."
