John Phillip Richter, 77, passed away June 14, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nev. at his condo in Summerlin. He was surrounded by his wife and two daughters. He was born July 20, 1937 in Algona, Iowa to John and Retha Richter.

John joined the United States Marine Corp., January, 1956 and made it his life for 26 years; with two deployments to Viet Nam where he was in bomb disposal EOD. He received the Navy Accommodation medal, along with many other awards. Upon leaving the Marine Corp. he became VP General Manager of a large Orange County California corporation. He retired in 1994 to Lake Havasu City with his wife, Shirley and they both enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, and became active members of Lake Havasu Yacht Club, Marine Corp League, and London Bridger’s RV Club. He also played golf and loved it so much.

He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Shirley; brother, Michael and his family of Britt, Iowa; daughters, Donna Jean Jackson and Lisa Kay Clark both of California; and stepdaughter, Linda Colon and her husband Garry of Las Vegas, Nev. Also grandchildren, Ashleigh and Hayleigh Gurule of Washington, David Rivas and wife Natalie of California, Allison Rivas of California and Parker Colon of Las Vegas; and special great-granddaughter Azlyn Jo Rivas of California. John is also survived by his best friends, Gunner his English Bulldog and Gracie a rescue friend.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

He will be laid to rest Friday, 10:40 a.m., at Boulder City, Nev. Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
