Ramona Ruth Stevens was born in Duluth, MN, on January 22, 1963 to Harold and Ruth (Meyer) Stevens. Ramona traveled with her family to West Berlin, Germany, North Dakota and Wisconsin due to her father serving in the U.S. Air Force. At age five she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Her mother, Ruth, did all she could to keep Ramona healthy as a youngster and later in life as an adult.

Ramona struggled in school, but always persevered. She graduated from Forbes High School in 1981. Following high school, she took courses at Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD, graduated with a degree in Home health Technician from Lakes Area Technical Institute in Watertown, SD and worked in the field for a few years. She then attended Trinity Bible Institute in Ellendale, ND, and then worked at South Dakota Development Center (SDDC) in food services for a time. After this she went back to Lake Area Technical Institute to study computer applications. Because of failing eyesight and other life issues, she moved back to Redfield in 1989.

Ramona found a home for her spiritual life at the Wesleyan Church in Redfield. One of her ministries was to provide "PowerPoint" presentations by using a flannel board for the children. She also loved to sing and performed many times at church. Ramona also enjoyed sewing, quilting, horses, raggedy Andy and Ann dolls, watching or listening to old TV shows, and reading classics while she could.

The last few years of Ramona's life were difficult. She went blind 10 years ago and began having severe complications from diabetes. Yet in all of this she never complained or blamed God. Her contentment came truly from the Lord.

Ramona's life can be summarized with James 1:1-4, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature, not lacking anything." Her life brought honor and glory to God in that she was content in every situation and this contentment came only from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her mother Ruth Stevens of Redfield, her brothers: Jonathon (Beth Anne) Stevens of Oskaloosa, IA; Frederick Stevens of Rochester, MN and Eric Stevens of Aberdeen. She is also survived by a niece Allison Rhoulhac and a nephew (Yannan Sun) Stevens.

She was preceded in death by her father.
