Mr. J. R. Bass, an old citizen of Texas, and formerl a citizen of this county, died at his home in Yoakum Tuesday. He was a member of the Masonic lodge of this place and was buried Wednesday evening by the Masons in their cemetery. He was an uncle of Capt. A. T. Bass

Tribute of Respect
The subject of this tribute of respect was born in Nash county, N. C., April 6th, 1809 Moved from North Carolina to Madison county, Mississippi, in 1833m from there to Harris county, Texas, in 1838, thence to Gonzales county in 1845, where he lived until about one year previous to his death. Was made a Mason in Gonzales Lodge on the 7th day of August, A. D., 1848. United with Live Oak Baptist church in 1883, and lived a consistent member of the same.
Whereas it has pleased God to remove from earth the soul of Brother Jordon R. Bass, and whereas the Lodge has lost one of its oldest, honored and faithful members and whereas his family has lost a kind and affectionate husband and father, therefore be it
Resolved, that this Lodge tender to the family of our deceased brother our sincere sympathy; that these resolutions be spread upon the minutes; that a copy be furnished the family of our deceased brother and that the Lodge wear the usual badge of mourning for 30 days.
