Bangladeshi Prime Minister. Zafar Ahmed served as Prime Minister of Bangladesh from 1989 to 1990. Early in adulthood, he was one of the leaders in the movement to gain independence from Pakistan. After Bangladesh gained its independence, Zafar Ahmed was very involved in national party politics. After Hussain Muhammad Ershad became president in 1983, he served in the government in various duties before becoming prime minister in 1989. Zafar Ahmed stepped down after the fall of the Ershad government in 1990 and went to Australia and entered the education field. He came back to Bangladesh after awhile and reentered the national political scene.
