Daniel Watson Ladd, Sr. ("without father or mother at six years of age") was raised by his aunt and uncle Watson at "Plummerville" in Epping. (Exeter News-Letter, July 17, 1941.) [In fact, it appears that only his mother, Dorothy/Dolly (Smith) Ladd died in Dec. 1798 (when son was age 6 months). His father, Nathaniel Ladd, lived until 1818 or 1820, dying in Trinidad (as per Ancestry.com)]
