Winston-Salem - Josephine New Phillips June 6, 1918 - August 9, 2015 Josephine New Phillips, 97, died Sunday August 9, 2015 surrounded by her family at the Danby House in Winston-Salem. She was born on June 6, 1918 to the late Rena Jaro and James New. Josephine was preceded in death by her husband Earlie Junior Phillips who passed in 1969, and a daughter Linda Keeton who passed in 2005. Surviving are her daughters Barbara Thurber (William) of Clemmons, Rena Pike of Kernersville, son David Phillips (Robin) of Winston-Salem, seven Grandsons, 17 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Friday August 14, 2015 at Salem Funeral Home Main St. Chapel. The family will visit with friends Thursday August 13, 2015 from 6-8 pm at Salem Funeral Home Main St. Chapel. Interment will take place at Waughtown Cemetery following the service.
