Jon J. Jackson, 78, of New London, died Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Great River Klein Center, West Burlington.

Mr. Jackson was born October 14, 1936 in Decatur City, Iowa, the son of Joshua Edward and Nellie Kennedy Jackson. On June 9, 1957, he married Janice Mayer in Osceola, Iowa. She died in March of 2012. He attended elementary school in Weldon and graduated from Van Wert High School. He was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church in Burlington.

Mr. Jackson owned Jackson Quarries in Weldon with his father and brother, with their pits in south central Iowa and north central Missouri. He owned and operated Jackson Concrete Corporation and was a concrete contractor from 1978-2008. During the winter he operated Jackson Auto Sales, rebuilding cars. He was a left handed pitcher on a farm league and was scouted by the Chicago Cubs but choose to start his family instead. He enjoyed baseball, basketball, car racing, in his early years pheasant hunting, and loved horses.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers Ike, Dick, Joshua, Bob and George, and sister Harriet Watkins.
