RM3 US Navy

Bobby Rhodes was born in West Virginia and moved to Flint, Michigan, before enlisting in the Navy. He spent four years aboard the USS Mattabassett as a radio operator. During his time in the Navy, he traveled through the Mediterranean and Cape Town, Africa. He returned to Michigan following his enlistment and worked in General Motors Truck and Bus Plant, where he eventually became a general foreman. After about thirty years, he retired from GM and started a lawn mowing business. During the winter, it turned into a snow shoveling business. He was well known around town for helping out his "elderly neighbors," which he never considered himself to be. He loved Elvis music, watching college football and basketball, and golfing. He is survived by his wife, Aldina; two children, Jeff (Donna) and Jody (David); three granddaughters, Tiffany, Erin, and Samantha; grandson, Jacob; and his brother, Paul. His family misses him and loves him very much.
